The Best Keto Mug Bread
This microwave mug bread is so simple and delicious! It takes only a couple of minutes to put together. The ingredients are an egg, almond flour, butter, baking powder, and salt. It’s grain-free and tastes like a decadent flavourful english muffin.
And if you follow a keto diet, or are diabetic or paleo, you know what a treat a bread can taste like. I sliced it into three pieces and had it slathered with peanut butter with a glass of milk on the side. This keto mug bread is going to be in my regular rotation.
You can use this keto bread as a base for grilled cheese, and also using it to make all kinds of sandwiches. I also want to try this 90 second keto bread with cream cheese – yum!!
I have tried other grain-free bread recipes in the past, but this is one of the easiest and tastiest.

It only takes 5 simple ingredients to make this keto mug bread:
almond flour
an egg
butter
sea salt
baking powder
Keto 90 Second Mug Bread Tips
You can substitute vegan butter or coconut oil for the butter.
Other than that I wouldn’t substitute anything in this keto bread recipe. I made this mug bread once without the salt and it will still good, but def better with the salt.
For the cooking time – this can vary with different microwaves and also with different mug sizes. It took my microwave 60 seconds to cook perfectly. The first time you make this mug bread, watch your microwave.
Test doneness, and if it needs a bit more time, add on 15 seconds at a time until it’s fully cooked. The next time you make it, you’ll know exactly how long it takes in your microwave!

If you want to slice this keto bread, I recommend waiting a couple of minute for it to cool first. It will be easier to cut.
I cool my keto mug bread right in the mug for a minute or two, slide it out of the mug onto a plate, and let it cool for another minute.
Eat this bread as is or with any of your favorite toppings. It also makes yummy keto toast, and you can use it as keto sandwich bread too.
If you want square bread, microwave the low-carb mug bread in a square ramekin or ceramic dish.

- 3 tbsp almond flour
- 1 egg (free range)
- 1 ½ tbsp melted butter (or melted coconut oil or vegan butter)
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- pinch sea salt
In a small bowl, mix the egg with a fork or a whisk.
Stir in the almond flour, salt, and baking powder.
Drizzle in the melted butter and stir until mixed.
Spray a mug with non-stick spray (or grease with butter); pour in the batter.
Microwave for 90 seconds or until cooked.
